New Officer of the Order of Australia’s emotional story
A child migration advocate has become the Officer of the Order of Australia.
During the post-war period, more than 130-thousand children from the UK were sent overseas, with many ending up in Australia.
Dr Margaret Humphreys was a social worker in the ’80s when she received a letter from Australia, requesting assistance to locate family members.
Her work saw her uncover the horrible migration scheme.
The founder of Child Migration Fund emotionally told Deborah Knight she is eternally grateful to receive the honour.
