70kg black marlin fights back, disables boat engine and leaves fishermen stranded
A group of fishermen were out in the open ocean and miraculously managed to catch a black marlin fish of about 70kgs, but quickly things took a turn.
The marlin didn’t take too kindly to being hooked and decided to fight back damaging the boat engine.
This caused the engine to fail and left the fishermen stranded over 30 km off the coast from Tura Head.
Luckily Marine Rescue New South Wales leapt into action to save the day.
Marine Rescue Merimbula Unit Commander Bill Blakeman spoke with Chris O’Keefe about the rescue.
