Anglicare says Government must invest more in social housing
A non-profit organisation is asking the government for social housing to help homeless women.
Anglicare released a report looking closely into this called ‘More Than Shelter’.
According to the report older women are the fastest-growing cohort of people experiencing homelessness.
Single women over the age of 55 are eight times more likely to become homeless.
Susan King, the author of the report told Deborah Knight that at a state level, they’re asking for 5000 new social housing.
While also asking the federal government for 25,000.
“Provision of social housing makes a huge difference to the market,” Susan King said.
