‘It’s sad’: Dutton’s scathing review of Paul Keating’s AUKUS remarks
A former prime minister’s attack on the AUKUS deal hasn’t found much support on either side of politics, with the Liberal leader once again joining the fray.
Paul Keating yesterday criticised his party’s decision to proceed with the submarine project, saying the move is harmful to stability in the region and claiming China poses no threat.
But Liberal Party leader Peter Dutton said the former prime minister’s performance was “sad”.
“We’ve all been on the end of different sprays over the years from Paul Keating but I think it’s sort of moved from funny to quite an awkward phase for him,” Mr Dutton told Ray Hadley.
“None of it makes sense, Ray. That’s the truth of it.”
