‘It’s better to delay it or call it off’: Denis Shanahan on the Voice
Legislation is closer to passing, which will allow the referendum for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament to take place.
The Greens are likely to back it, and Independent Jacqui Lambie says she’ll support the bill.
It means the federal government has the numbers, regardless of whether the Opposition backs the move.
Political Editor at The Australian Dennis Shanahan told Ben Fordham the Albanese government is listening to feedback as he has changed position on The Voice and executive government.
“The issue is that clearly, the referendum wording has changed, the Solicitor-General has clearly given advice that there’s a problem with this whole issue of applying The Voice to the executive government.”
