BYD Atto 3 Extended range SUV 1
Driving one of the most affordable Battery electric vehicles on the market – the
extended range BYD Atto 3 mid-sized SUV – but certainly not cheap at $51,011
plus on-road costs. A Chinese built SUV it arrived late last year holding 3000 pre
orders prior to launch – BYD standing for Build Your Dreams. Imported by EV
Direct and sold on-line the BYD Atto 3 gets N.S.W. Government electric vehicle
incentive support with a 3 per cent stamp duty exemption plus a $3,000 rebate
dropping the price to $49,112 drive-away. The BYD Atto 3 extended range SUV
has a range of 480km from a 60.48 kWh battery powering a single front mounted
electric motor and front wheel drive via a single speed gearbox. Power 150kW,
torque 310Nm. The styling smart with good quality which may surprise buyers
given its Chinese origins. The interior treatment around the dashboard somewhat
quirky and an acquired taste featuring a large infotainment screen which can be
orientated either portrait or landscape style via a touch button. Good interior
space with seat design and comfort a high point. Equipment: power front seats
with faux leather trim, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and well equipped
apart from the lack of any spare wheel. Drive details next. I’m David Berthon
