‘Felt like criminals’: Candice Warner opens up about sandpaper scandal
Former IronWoman and wife to David Warner, Candice Warner, has released a new memoir called ‘Running Strong’, where she opens up about managing the pressures of her life in the spotlight.
Candice Falzon, now Warner, was the youngest professional IronWoman at age 14 and was crowned NSW IronWoman champion at 16-years-old.
She tied the knot with the Australian cricketer David Warner in 2015 and told Ben Fordham that her husband “doesn’t like to lose”.
In the 2018 test between Australia and South Africa in Cape Town, Cameron Bancroft was caught rubbing sandpaper on the ball, and David Warner was ruled to be the architect, which led to a 12 month suspension.
“It didn’t help when Malcolm Turnbull made the comments that he did…we felt like criminals at the time,” Candice told Ben Fordham.
