Fox News has abruptly fired its top-ratings host, Tucker Carlson, with reports saying the decision came from Rupert Murdoch directly. 

The decision comes just days after Fox agreed to pay $787.5 million to settle a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems.

“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” Fox News said in a statement.

Carlson’s final broadcast of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” aired last week.
