Kathleen Folbigg’s lawyer demands her immediate release
New evidence may exonerate Kathleen Folbigg, convicted of murdering three of her children and the manslaughter of another, after spending 20 years in jail.
In an interview with Ben Fordham, Folbigg’s lawyer, Rhanee Rego compared her case to that of Lindy Chamberlain, who was eventually pardoned and gave explanations for each child’s death based on new evidence.
“Kathleen has been subjected to vilification and absolute denigration that is possibly unparalleled for another mother in this country,” said Rego.
“She has been called Australia’s worst female serial killer.”
Rego believes that the evidence was insufficient to prove her client’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and calls for a humane approach similar to Lindy Chamberlain’s case.
