‘Labor MPs said no way’: Tony Abbott on being BLOCKED from Voice inquiry
Former Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, has accused Labor MPs of silencing figures who were sceptical of this year’s referendum after he was blocked from appearing at a key parliamentary inquiry.
Today is the final day of hearings for this Voice committee inquiry, hearing from a whole range of people in Canberra, some people in favour of the Indigenous voice to Parliament and executive government, others opposed.
“My understanding is that the Labor members of the committee said we’ve got his written submission but we don’t want to hear from him in person,” Tony Abbott told Ben Fordham.
“I think this Voice is a very, very bad idea…This is going to bugger up our system of government,” said Abbott.
Tony Abbott has now appeared in front of the committee on the Voice, sharing his opinions in Canberra at 1pm today.
