‘They got me!’: 82-year-old Beverley SCAMMED out of $8,000
A fraudulent caller posing as a representative from Telstra, NBN, managed to swindle $8,000 from Beverley and her husband.
The scammer claimed that their copper line would be discontinued and upgraded to high-speed fibre optic, with a supposed cost of $5.
Beverley provided the caller with their credit card information for their Newcastle account, only for the scammer to gain unauthorised access to their private Saint George account.
She has warned other listeners to watch out for similar calls.
