Why Jason Ryles is ready to be an NRL head coach
The Continuous Call Team’s Mark Riddell has endorsed former teammate Jason Ryles to be an NRL head coach.
Riddell and Ryles played alongside each other at the St George Illawarra Dragons and have since become close friends.
In recent weeks there has been speculation the 44-year-old could take the next step with the Dragons yet to lock in a coach for 2024 and beyond, while it’s unclear if Craig Bellamy will continue on as Storm coach after this year.
Riddell told The Continuous Call Team Ryles, who’s served several apprenticeships and is currently an assistant at the Roosters, is ready to take the next step.
“Jason Ryles has served as an assistant under the best coaches in our games, and deserves an opportunity as head coach,” Riddell said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what happens but want to make sure that he takes on the right opportunity.”
