James Packer donates $7 million to UNSW mental health research
Billionaire, James Packer has donated $7 million to the University of NSW to expand mental health research that will investigate mood disorders, including bipolar disorder.
Packer said it was “no secret” that he had previously struggled with mental health problems and is hopeful his contribution will “improve the lives” of others who are struggling.
UNSW Chancellor David Conski said the significance of the donation is “enormous” and the university is very appreciative.
“It is a critical time for these roles to be set up in the area of psychiatric research,” said Mr Conski.
