Holly Knight, the songwriter behind Tina’s hit song Simply the Best, joined Chris O’Keefe to commemorate the life of Tina Turner, discussing their shared journey and the genesis of the timeless anthem.

She reflected on the star’s impactful legacy and their personal connection. “We were simpatico from the first day that we met. And I’m just honored… she picked me”.

The anthem wasn’t initially intended for Turner, according to Knight. However, after some modifications to suit Turner’s style, the song transformed into the anthemic hit we know today.
