CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Anne Savage has encouraged men to discuss prostate cancer with their GPs.

She highlighted the simplicity of the PSA blood test for detecting prostate cancer and emphasized the importance of regular check-ups for early detection.

The survival rate for prostate cancer has increased from 58 per cent in 1982 to 95.5 per cent today.

Savage also advised men with a family history of prostate cancer to engage in conversations with their GPs as they approach the age of 40 as they are at greater risk.

“If he’s got a father or a brother who has been diagnosed, his risk of being diagnosed, doubles, or if he has to direct male relatives who’ve been impacted, his rate risk increases fivefold”, she explained.
