Titans CEO defends Justin Holbrook sacking
Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell has defended the club’s decision to immediately sack coach Justin Holbrook earlier this week.
On Thursday, the club announced they had appointed former Manly and Bulldogs Coach Des Hasler for three years from the start of 2024.
However, the decision left Holbrook “gutted”, after he first joined the club in 2020.
Mitchell told The Continuous Call Team it was time for a change.
“Justin’s done a good job getting us to where we are but we weren’t progressing, and arguably we were going backwards,” Mitchell said.
“We need a winner, and we need someone who can teach us how to win.
“Des has been in five Grand Finals and won two of them.”
Jim Lenihan has been chosen as the club’s interim coach for the remainder of the season.
