‘Work till you die’: Tradies warn of increasing retirement age
Blue-collar workers have voiced concerns over their ability to work until retirement, as the pension age is set to rise to 67.
Professor John Buchanan, the Network Leader for the Health and Work Research Network at the University of Sydney, defended the tradies’ perspective.
He explained that raising the pension age is “a limited vision of the future”, that reinforces the ‘work till you die’ mentality.
“What we’ve lost is that vision that as we become more prosperous, we do other things with our lives”.
