There were 122,494 people estimated to be experiencing homelessness when the 2021 census was taken, an increase of 5.2 per cent or 6067 people from 2016, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Backpack Bed for Homeless is a national registered charity, they provide Backpack Beds to street sleeping homeless people without shelter.
