Heated on-air clash erupts as NSW teachers fume over pay saga
Chris O’Keefe found himself engaged in a heated on-air debate with the head of the Griffith Teachers’ Association, as frustrations continue to mount between the Minns government and teachers over a contentious pay offer.
Jenna Woodland, the president of the association, joined O’Keefe’s show to discuss the issue.
This followed the revelation that the New South Wales Teachers Federation was unhappy with a proposed agreement, which aimed to implement a 12 per cent salary increase for some teachers.
According to the proposed arrangement, newly appointed teachers in New South Wales would commence their roles with a salary of $85,000, representing just over a 12 per cent rise from the current figure of $75,791.
During the on-air discussion, tensions between O’Keefe and Woodland escalated swiftly as the 2GB host probed whether the teachers had, in fact, been presented with a fair proposal.
“With the greatest of respect, can you show me a job with a starting salary of $85,000 a year with 12 weeks leave?” O’Keefe asked Woodland.
