Warriors coach Andrew Webster has revealed how star halfback Shaun Johnson missed just the two pre-season training sessions prior to his stellar season, which revived his NRL career.

It comes after Johnson had two try assists and three line break assists to help the Warriors make it five straight wins after defeating the Tigers 30-22 in Hamilton on Saturday.

Webster told The Continuous Call Team despite Johnson being 32-years-old, he’s been ambitious in getting back to his best form coinciding with him being one of the favourites to win the Dally M Medal.

“Shaun missed two training sessions in the whole pre-season,” Webster said.

“The older players… they often are managed, you’ve got to be careful about how much training they do.

“Shaun didn’t want that, he wanted to dive in and he wanted to improve and work as hard as he could.”
