Train maintenance is being nationalised by the New South Wales Labor government, with 2GB reporting exclusively the major government reacquisition.

The state government is taking back a contract with established train depot operator UGL following the end of a lease.

Workers have not yet been given clarification or confirmation about whether their status as contractors will translate to full-time government employees.
