A violent brawl involving teenage girls broke out on Chalmers Street outside a Woolworths shop in Redfern, drawing a massive police response.

The incident occurred after a football game at the nearby Redfern Oval. Police from South Sydney along with neighbouring commands and special units arrived at the scene at 3pm on Sunday.

Two young women initially tried to intervene and stop the fight but ended up joining the brawl themselves.
