‘He’s in good spirits’: Billy Walters’ positive update on Ryan Papenhuyzen
Broncos hooker Billy Walters says Storm superstar Ryan Papenhuyzen is in “good spirits”, after the Storm star suffered a fractured ankle in last night’s Qualifying Final.
Papenhuyzen underwent surgery this morning following the horrific injury in the Storm’s 26-nil loss to Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium and is now recovering in hospital.
Walters lived with Papenhuyzen for a year while the pair played together in Melbourne in 2019 and was visiting his former teammate when he joined The Continuous Call Team.
“He’s in pretty good spirits,” Walters said.
“I lived with Paps for a year when I was down there (in Melbourne) and all the hard work he’s gone through to get back, and then to have an injury like that is pretty disheartening.
“But he’s been back from worse, so I’m sure he’ll be able to come back bigger and stronger than ever.”
