‘Pretty cheap’: NSWRL boss whacks Origin criticism of Brad Fittler
NSW Rugby League CEO Dave Trodden has taken aim at some of the criticism levelled towards Blues coach Brad Fittler earlier this season.
Fittler came underfire for some of his selections after NSW were hammered in State of Origin two by the Maroons, condemning the Blues to a series loss for this year.
Following Fittler’s second meeting with the NSWRL Board on Friday, a decision on the Blues coach for 2024 is yet to be made.
But Trodden told The Continuous Call Team the criticism earlier this year wasn’t warranted.
“Everybody understands that there’s a win-loss ledger,” Trodden said.
“Freddy is a great leader, as Laurie (Daley) was as well, who’ve delivered so much not just for NSW rugby league but for the whole game and those things can’t be discarded when you consider appointments moving forward.
“Some of the criticism of Freddy this year has been pretty cheap.”
