Tesla model Y SUV gets an update in China
The mid-size Tesla Model Y SUV is now consistently our No. 3 best seller each
month and news from China indicate it has been recently updated for its home
market. The minor update follows news of the Tesla Model 3 sedan’s facelift with
Tesla’s China website claiming the base Model Y SUV now has a claimed 0 –
100km/hour acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. Range of the base rear drive Model
Y also now a claimed 554km, up 9km. The popularity of the electric Tesla Model Y
SUV reflects in a September year to date sales figure of 23,457, up 336 percent on
the same time last year while sales of the Model 3 sedan have climbed 68 percent
in the same period. Tesla now our 8th best-selling brand with a market share of
4.2 per cent. Tesla are also expected to release a more affordable small car in the
short term, possibly called the Model 2.
