Neil Mitchell – Dishonesty no longer has political consequences

Clinton Maynard

Mike speaks with Neil Mitchell, former top rated 3AW morning announcer / 3AW news analyst & host of the Nine podcast ‘Neil Mitchell Asks Why’, who reflects on a question posed to a prime minister about public honesty during their journalistic career.

Mr Mitchell argues that deceit has been a constant in political leadership for the past 50 years, highlighting instances of evasion and dishonesty from various Australian prime ministers.

A particular case in point is Anthony Albanese’s handling of tax cuts, where Mitchell contends that political dishonesty no longer carries significant consequences, as voters have come to expect and accept it.
