‘We have the evidence’: Alarming new drug driving rates in NSW
Rod Roberts, the Independent Member of the Legislative Council in New South Wales, engaged in a conversation with Ray Hadley regarding the alarming new drug driving rates in the state.
Roberts raised a pertinent question about the relatively low number of drug tests conducted, citing figures indicating that approximately 15 per cent of drug tests yield positive results, in contrast to the approximately 0.6 per cent positive rate for alcohol tests.
He highlighted the stark difference in the testing frequency, with three million alcohol tests conducted annually compared to a mere 17,000 drug tests.
“Clearly, we have evidence that 15 per cent of those that are tested on the side of the road, return a positive test for drugs,” he told Ray.
