MGs ZS – Most popular small SUV on the market
The Chinese-owned MG brand continues its march on the local market with its top selling small ZS SUV, outselling its nearest rival the GWM Haval Jolion by a country mile. The MG ZS catapulted the brand onto the market here with a sharp entry price but the model to own is the four- model ZST grade pitched at a more premium market, the two higher ZST grades, the Excite and the Essence gaining an impressive turbocharged 1.3-litre three-cylinder engine driving through a six- speed automatic. The value story excellent – the Excite now $2,500 more affordable at $29,490 drive-away, the Essence, the pick, $3,500 cheaper at $30,490 driveaway. Interior room a highlight while the equipment list on both is staggering, the top-line Essence loaded with a large Panoramic sunroof, full digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather trim, satellite navigation, heated and power front seats, tyre pressure monitoring and 17-inch alloy wheels. This, in addition to the Excite models 360-degree camera, LED Headlights and MG’s suite of active safety technology dubbed MG Pilot. The British MG moniker gives this small ZST SUV a lot more kudos over other Chinese brands plus a 7- years/unlimited kilometre warranty and roadside assistance, with three-year service costs just $896.
