Ugly parents cast a deep shadow over kids sport

Many children watching the Olympics may feel inspired to chase their own sporting dreams, but should they?

Deb Childs, CEO of HelpingMinds, tells Mike that while sports are crucial for children’s physical and mental development, the issue of “ugly parent” behavior casts a dark shadow over junior sports in Australia.

A recent study revealed that 70% of junior athletes have witnessed negative behavior from parents on the sidelines, which children often mimic on the field.

With grassroots clubs struggling against sideline abuse and even violence, is it wise to encourage kids to play sports under these conditions?
