September is Rural Road Safety Month

Clinton Maynard

Clinton is joined by Michelle Tayler, Executive Director of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), to discuss the critical issue of rural road safety.

With September being the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF)’s Rural Road Safety Month, the NHVR has issued an urgent reminder to all drivers to exercise increased caution and adhere to safety warnings.

Despite the lower population density in regional areas compared to urban centres, fatalities on rural and regional roads remain alarmingly high, accounting for approximately two-thirds of the road toll each year, with 811 lives lost in 2023 alone.
