New South Wales Police have confirmed a critical incident investigation is underway after officers shot two men at an apartment complex in Wentworthville this afternoon.

Cumberland Police Officers were called to the complex on Lane Street following reports a stolen vehicle was at the location when they allege the two man drove towards them.

New South Wales Ambulance confirmed the two individuals have been taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

One man is in critical condition and another in serious but stable condition.
