A look at the Grand Final for bird lovers

Mike Jeffreys

Just when you thought all the big games we’re done and dusted… here comes Budgie Fest 2024 to celebrate the world’s third most popular pet, the humble Aussie backyard budgie.

If you’re a fan of the chirpy chatterboxes, then Budgie Fest is a must.

Mike is joined by Troy Holmes, founder of Budgie Fest, who shares his best budgie insights before the big day.

“This is the budgie Grand Final, second to none in terms of colour and fun”, Troy tells Mike.

“Competition will be fierce and it’s attracting budgie lovers from all over the country, and interest around the world. We’ve got a three-time world champion, the Tom Cruise of budgies, coming from the UK as one of our judges.”

Kids are also invited to bring their feathered friends to compete for titles including ‘Most Fashionable Feathers’, ‘Best Budgie Buddy’, and the ‘Tweet-heart’ award.

*Budgie Fest is on Saturday, October 26.
