Scammers target desperate buyers for sold-out concert tickets

Fans eager to attend sold-out concerts, like Coldplay’s world tour, are being warned about ticket scams on social media and online marketplaces.

With major acts performing soon, NAB reports that $160,000 in payments linked to potential ticket scams were abandoned by its customers in the past three months.

The average abandoned payment is $1,700, with more women than men heeding payment alerts for unusual transactions introduced by NAB in March 2023.

Clinton speaks with NAB Group Investigations Executive Chris Sheehan, who cautions fans against rushing to buy tickets, as scammers prey on ‘fear of missing out’, often selling fake tickets or responding to posts seeking them.
