Michael McLaren continues to question why airlines are offering politicians flight upgrades as shadow transport minister Bridget McKenzie deals with the fall-out of her failure to declare several flight upgrades.

He notes the Greens party’s decision to call for a ban is a good move, as he criticises politicians for not questioning why they were being offered free upgrades.

“Even if the politician is able to accept the upgrade while independently fulfilling their role as political regulator of the aviation industry, the perception of a conflict of interest lingers thick in the air,” he said.
