‘The raw end of the deal’ Proposed tax on farmers for food waste slammed

There is growing push back against a potential tax on Victorian farmers for excess production and weather damaged crops.

A state government inquiry into food waste has recommended penalties along the supply chain to prevent food waste.

The Victorian Farmers Federation says it is unlikely producers would intentionally create waste.

Rural Reporter Rhiannon Soliman-Marron caught up with Member for Western Victoria and Committee member Joe McCracken, who wants to ensure farmers are protected.
