The new $50 note has been revealed

Article image for The new $50 note has been revealed

Australia’s most counterfeited note has had a makeover and the new design has been revealed today.

The $50 note will now feature a top-to-bottom clear window with a “spark patch” which has a rolling colour effect.

The note will still portray a portrait of Aboriginal writer David Unaipon and the image of Australia’s first female politician Edith Cowan.

Assisting Governor of Business Services at the RBA, Lindsay Boulton, tells Ross Greenwood more about the changes.

“The reason for revamping our bank notes is to improve the security of the bank notes to ensure the public can continue to have confidence in them.”
