80% of sufferers with this condition are going undiagnosed
Does eating food like bread or pasta upset your stomach?
If so, you could be gluten intolerant and suffer from coeliac disease.
One in 70 Aussies have the condition but 80% go undiagnosed.
So how do you find out if you have the condition?
Dietitian and Technical Officer at Coeliac Australia, Penny Dellsperger, tells Chris Smith there are multiples faces to the condition which can make it difficult to diagnose.
The symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhoea and bloating as well as headaches and lethargy.
“GPs have a lot to consider so they’ll look at other things before they consider coeliac disease.”
Executive Officer of Coeliac Australia David Sullivan says there’s information out there to help potential sufferers, including an online self-assessment test.
“It doesn’t discriminate. It can affect anyone.”
