A herd of heifers is heading to the Big Smoke to hit Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. 

A fleet of stockman on horseback will lead 40 head of cattle to the sand at 6:30am and they’re not doing the trek to get a tan.

The farmers will be shocking beachgoers to raise awareness for a meaningful cause.

Herd of Hope aims to draw attention to the difficulties Australians living in the country face when they need an organ or tissue transplant.

Megan Willoughby received a donated kidney and pancreas during a mammoth double transplant and she will be one of the stockmen on the day.

She tells Ben Fordham “I’m very lucky to be here”.

“If there’s a traffic jam, I know people who’ve missed out on having a heart transplant because of just something simple like that. Time is crucial.”

Megan says they couldn’t have picked a better cause to back.

“Organ and tissue donation is more about mateship than anything else.

“You think about it, you’re never going to be thanked for it. Can you define mateship any better?”
