EXCLUSIVE | RSL overturns decision to ban taxis from ANZAC Day march

The NSW RSL has backflipped on its plan to remove taxis from this year’s ANZAC Day parade.

Taxis were to be replaced with golf carts to protect participants against the threat of hostile vehicle attacks.

NSW RSL President James Brown has now reversed the decision, telling Ray Hadley veterans who need to be in taxis to participate, will be.

“We want to make sure we know who is driving every single vehicle in the parade.

“Veterans who need to be in a taxi on the day will be in a taxi on the day.”

RSL NSW will meet with the NSW Taxi Council tomorrow, with President Brown admitting the situation was handled poorly.

“Clearly, this could have been handled better.

“This is a day to recognise men and women who’ve put their hand up to make the ultimate sacrifice for this country… veterans will be honoured on this day.”
