Red Lea franchisees victims of supermarket price wars
Chook giant Red Lea Chickens has suffered as a result of the supermarket price wars which saw roast chickens flying out the door for as little as $8.
The supermarkets lose out at these low prices, but they do it deliberately because they know an $8 chicken will bring customers through the door.
It’s affected farmers but has also put enormous pressure on Red Lea franchisees.
Ross Greenwood speaks with Mark Huang, franchisee of the Red Lea Rouse Hill store for three years.
He says the price wars have ruined his business.
“We don’t make money.”
