American wins The Masters, two Aussies in the top 10
American golfer Patrick Reed has won The Masters.
It’s the 27-year-old’s first major victory, following a tense Sunday at Augusta National.
The Texan fired a final round 71 to finish 15 under par for the tournament, holding off a fast-finishing Ricky Fowler by one stroke and Jordan Spieth by two shots.
Two Australians finished in the top 10, with 24-year-old Cameron Smith the best of them.
He finished tied for 5th while Marc Leishman came in outright 9th, after sharing the lead earlier in the tournament.
Jason Day tied for 20th while the last of the Aussies, Adam Scott, tied for 32nd alongside returning champion Tiger Woods.
The clinching putt.
