Police officers hospitalised following suspicious house fire
Two police officers have been taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, after coming across a fire in Sydney’s inner west.
The officers were on patrol when they noticed smoke near a townhouse on Church Street at Camperdown at around 2.30 this morning.
They discovered a fire burning on the porch of the property and started knocking on the door to alert anyone inside.
A man was escorted to safety and firefighters were called in to put out the blaze.
The resident was okay but the two constables were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire has only caused damage out the front but police believe it was deliberately lit.
