Man arrested over pizza store armed robberies and shooting
A man is due to face court charged over a series of armed robberies and a shooting in Sydney’s west.
Police say five armed robberies took place at Canley Vale, Fairfield East, North Strathfield, Strathfield and Wentworthville over a seven-week period from November to January.
During one incident, a 21-year-old staff member was shot twice before the armed man ran from the scene.
The employee underwent surgery but has suffered permanent injuries.
Just after 9am yesterday, detectives arrested a 28-year-old man at a construction site at Pagewood.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station while officers raided three homes at Old Guildford, allegedly finding a firearm, ammunition and other items.
He’s been charged with at least 12 offences and refused bail to appear in Waverley Local Court later today.
