‘Let the people have their say’, Senator Pauline Hanson calls for plebiscite on immigration
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson is calling for a plebiscite on immigration, saying the people should “have their say”.
Senator Hanson says neither party is engaging in the immigration debate and Australians should have their say about “the future of this country”.
She tells Ben Fordham what her proposed plebiscite would include.
“The plebiscite is, do you agree with Australian citizenship… to be granted after eight years residency in Australia?
“Do you believe they should know the English language?
“Do you believe that our immigration should be between 75-100,000 people per year and not the current 200,000?”
The One Nation senator says, under current levels, the nation is struggling.
“We cannot cope with the strain and it is affecting people’s way of life and standards of living in this country.”
