One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson has demanded the resignation of rogue senator Brian Burston.

In a letter delivered to Mr Burston at 3.20pm, Ms Hanson says she can no longer trust her friend and colleague of more than 20 years.

“I no longer have confidence in you as an officer of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation. You have been removed as deputy registered officer in NSW and in the federal party.”

But when Senator Burston joined Ben Fordham at 3:35pm, he had no knowledge of the letter.

Ben Fordham: “I’m guessing you’ve seen that letter from Pauline Hanson?”

Brian Burston: “No, I haven’t.”

Ben Fordham: “Do you want me to read it to you?”

Brian Burston: “Please.”

After hearing the letter in full, Senator Burston said he was “disappointed”, but insists he won’t bow to the demand.

“I will not be vacating my Senate position in the House and I shall not be resigning from One Nation.

“And if she wants to remove me from One Nation she is entitled to cancel my membership and that will make me an independent. But that’s her call.”

Burston says Ms Hanson’s reaction to him crossing the floor over the government’s company tax cuts was “immature and childish”.

“The crocodile tears last night I believe were genuine, but that was mainly in the response to the allegation I was trying to join another political party, which was false.”

The stoush started when Senator Burston crossed the floor to support the government’s company tax cuts.

In an interview with Ben Fordham on Sky News, Ms Hanson broke down in tears, saying she’s been “stabbed in the back”.
