Steve Smith in tears for days after ball tampering scandal
Former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith has revealed he was in tears for days in the aftermath of the international ball tampering scandal.
Smith was issued a 12-month suspension by Cricket Australia over the incident.
But now he’s using his experience to help educate young boys about mental health and owning up to your mistakes.
Today, Smith attended Knox Grammar School alongside Gus Worland to promote Gotcha 4 Life, a charity devoted to men’s mental wellbeing.
“[Smith] wanted to own… the mistake that he had made. He made a big one and he knows it and he respects it and now he’s decided to be really open and honest,” Gus tells Ben Fordham.

Gus says the applause for Australia’s former skipper, when they walked into the school hall, was astounding.
“I said, ‘mate you need this as much as they need to hear from you because you have to realise how many people love you, how many people respect you’.
“‘You will save lives doing this because boys will get the experience from you'”.
Gus says his charity is devoted to making sure men have someone to turn to when life gets tough.
“Australians have a lot of mates but we don’t have a lot of friends and they’re the people that you want.”
