Police issue grave warning as teen dies from lethal dose of alcohol
Police are warning about the risks of mixing alcoholic drinks as they investigate the death of a 15-year-old girl.
The teen was found unconscious on Friday night at her home in Kenthurst in Sydney’s north-west after going online and getting a recipe to mix alcohol and energy drinks.
Detective Superintendent Rob Critchlow tells Ben Fordham the girl was revived by paramedics but died at Westmead Children’s Hospital yesterday.
He describes the event as a “tragedy”.
“Her blood alcohol when she arrived was 0.4, which is eight times the legal limit and well in excess of what’s considered to be a lethal dose of alcohol.
“She struggled for life all weekend.”
Police are urging teenagers to be more aware of the dangers of underage and uninformed alcohol consumption.
