Firefighters battle 1400 degree molten glass factory fire
New South Wales Fire and Rescue are still battling a fierce molten glass factory fire in Rooty Hill.
Firefighters have been attacking a fire involving 20-30 tonnes of molten glass at a plant in Woodstock Ave.
Crews have surrounded the fire, that had been burning at upwards of 1400 degrees, with internal attack lines.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Graham Jarrett tells Ben Fordham, the fire is now mostly under control “but we’ll be going at the place for some time to keep it cool”.
“It was extreme temperatures and extreme conditions for firefighters.”
