The Minister for Western Sydney says the state government will not allow a deadly music festival to return to the Sydney International Regatta Centre.

30,000 people descended on the venue at Penrith for 12 hours of techno music at Defqon 1.

Two people died and at least 700 sought medical help.

69 people were caught in possession of drugs.

Local MP Stuart Ayres tells Alan Jones the venue, which is in state control, will not be made available for the concert next year.

“I don’t believe this event meets the use of the hiring agreement we put in place which clearly states that alcohol, drugs and illegal substances shouldn’t be permitted.

“Two young people are lying two dead in Nepean Hospital because they took drugs at this event.

“If they cannot stop that from happening, then I simply will not hire them the venue in the future. It does not belong at a venue that we play sport at.”
