CFMEU slapped with $311,000 penalty for threatening workers
The CFMEU has been slapped with a $311,000 fine for unlawful conduct against concreting companies across Sydney.
The court found officials attempted to coerce the companies into an enterprise agreement with the union in 214 and 2015.
The CMFEU was penalised as were the seven officers involved who were also ordered to pay penalties.
Australian Building and Construction Commissioner Stephen McBurney tells Ross Greenwood threats were made to subcontractors.
“Some of the more senior CFMEU officials or officers from the union have been involved in a threat to smash the jobs of one of the contractors to threaten them, to say they know what’s coming and that they’re going to pick on one of you and come after you.”
